Orlando Scott-Cowley of Mimecast describes how his team uses Basecamp:
Mimecast is a cloud based email management company, we provide all the tools that help companies manage their email more efficiently – Security, archiving, continuity, policy control, etc. Given that everything we do is delivered from a SaaS Platform in the cloud, we were looking for a better way to manage large scale projects without going down the office-based application route. We anticipated that the well trodden path of office-based project apps would only add complexity, a misuse or waste of time and unnecessary email conversations.
So, after looking at the various tools out there, and based on a glowing recommendation from one of your first subscribers, we chose Basecamp. There were two key reasons behind that decision; firstly we wanted to keep our project management simple, and Basecamp forces us to do that. Secondly we wanted to use and online tool that echoed our own cloud/SaaS based ethos and didn’t rely on physical desktop software.
Today Basecamp is used by Mimecast to coordinate and control external and internal projects – from simple archive migrations through to more complex large scale deployments for our customers. The range of tools available in one place, and allowing our customers to login and view or edit their own project is a huge bonus. Early analysis of our processes with Basecamp showed that we were saving considerable time and money over the classic project management tools – and to us that is time and money we can spend on our passions elsewhere.
It’s a great tool, and a wonderfully elegant interface.
