Highrise has always allowed you to merge two people into one person. This is handy if you have duplicates or someone spelled someone's name wrong and there are two separate entries in your Highrise contacts.
Today we launch a long requested feature: Merge companies. You can now merge two companies into one company just like you can merge two people into one person.
Here's how it works
Let's say you have two companies in your Highrise contact list that are really the same company. We'll take Apple and Apple Computer, for example:
You decide that you want to merge both of these companies into a single company called Apple. To make this happen, you'd click the company you want to merge into the other company. In this case, you'd click on Apple Computer.
Once on the Apple Computer page, you'd click the "Edit this company" link at the top of the Apple Computer page:
Then you'd land on the edit screen. In the sidebar you'll find a link that says "merge this company". Click that link.
Lastly, you'll end up on the merge screen. You'll see that Apple Computer is the "loser" of the merge. That means that company will be deleted and all the people, notes, tasks, etc will be moved into the "winning" company you select in step two. We'll enter "Apple" into the field:
Just click the "Merge these companies" button and you're all set. Everything from Apple Computer will be moved over to Apple and Apple Computer will be deleted. Done!
We hope you find the new merge companies useful. Thanks again for using Highrise.
